Hi, I'm Carl Shank.

I'm a layout, font designer and consultant specializing in church and ministry work under the umbrella of Carl Shank Consulting, a church health and leadership mentoring service.

Started in the late 1980s, I began a new venture, CARE Typography, using Macintoshes and LaserWriters to introduce new customers to this way of computing and design. At this initial point, CARE Typography serviced mainly church clientele and friends.

CARE Typography used a number of Greek and Hebrew fonts at the time, which were in their formative font design stages. We contracted with the Zondervan Corporation, a leading Christian publisher, to design a suitable Greek New Testament font. This massive project was subsequently shared with another professional type designer for finishing touches.

As the business/ministry expanded, it became clear that beyond regular church and nonprofit newsletters, bulletins, posters and letterheads, leadership coaching and consulting took over a large part of the mission of the company. CARE Typography thus expanded to Carl Shank Consulting, with an enlarged clientele of leaders in the church and ministry world.
